In connection with the installation of wind turbines at the He Dreiht offshore wind farm, HARCO has delivered a complete pedestal-mounted traverse system with an adapted interface frame to Cadeler’s jack-up vessel, Wind ORCA.

Advanced solution with a focus on operational reliability and service access

The traverse system includes a full traverse setup with an extendable top traverse – a recently developed feature that allows the spread of the traverse wires to be adjusted in steps. This minimizes the risk of contact with the jack-up legs or other onboard obstacles and allows for full retraction of the wires.

For additional safety and efficiency, wire retractors tools have been installed on each side of the boom, enabling the wires to be safely retracted when not in use. This further reduces the risk of contact with onboard obstacles during transit.

To support this, HARCO has developed an adapted interface frame with integrated service platforms and access pathways. This ensures easy inspection, maintenance and operation of the system during ongoing activities – without compromising uptime or safety.

This enables inspection, maintenance, and operation of the system during ongoing activities – without compromising uptime or safety. With the pedestal mounted traverse system, it further emphasizes easy inspection and maintenance, as the system allows for easy access to all winches and electrical cabinets, without bringing the crane boom to rest.

Turn-key rental solution

The project has been delivered as a turn-key rental solution, with HARCO managing mobilization, operators, maintenance and de-mobilization in addition to supplying the traverse system. This ensures the equipment is always operated by skilled personnel and that on-site maintenance is handled by qualified technicians.

To avoid unnecessary downtime, a set of spare parts and a tool container have also been mobilized. This allows essential repairs to be carried out directly on the vessel – without the need to return to port.

A strong collaboration

We look forward to continuing our strong collaboration with Cadeler, and to stay updated during installation of the wind farm.

The mobilization went smooth, and we are now ready to start the project where the HARCO Dynamic Traverse system is to install the wind turbines. We are looking forward to seeing the performance of the traverse system and the operators during the project. “
