HARCO successfully exchanged 4 gearboxes at Horns Rev 1 in June 2021.
Despite challenges due to bad weather, all gearboxes were exchanged within the 13 days window, including all preparatory and finalizing works.

HARCO strives to keep the turbines running, increasing availability while simultaneously reducing jack-up charter rates.

This was achieved in close collaboration with the Vattenfall Main Component Exchange team, site crew and Jack-up supplier, enabling an optimum execution.

HARCO supported Vattenfall in exchanging 4 gearboxes in record time at Horns Rev 1. In cooperation with HARCO, we are now able to perform main component exchanges with a minimum of jackup charter rates.”

About the Wind Farm
The Wind Farm is located 20 kilometers off the western coast of Jutland in Denmark. The wind farm was upon installation, the world’s largest offshore wind farm, consisting of 80 turbines, generating power for approx. 150,000 private households. The wind farm occupies 20 square kilometers and was installed in 2002.

The wind conditions in this area are ideal for wind power generation, but can also result in difficulties during CTV transit, or when exchanging components on the turbines. (source: powerplants.vattenfall.com)
