HARCO has been awarded the contract for delivering tagline winches for the Arcadis Ost project, as well as a “black box” for simulating HARCO winches in Heerema’s crane simulator.

After a successful execution of the DOT FOX project late 2021, Heerema has chosen HARCO as supplier for delivering a complete Tagline System including interfaces to the Heerema vessel Thialf for the Arcadis Ost 1 project.

Furthermore, Heerema has invested in a black box for simulating the HARCO Tagline System in their simulation centre, to optimize training of crane operators and personnel for operating the Tagline System during the Arcadis Ost 1 project.

The HARCO DP Tagline System to be mounted onboard Thialf will be HARCO’s 8mT dynamic position (DP) rental units. The System will be mounted on an interface frame, designed specifically for the project, to fit the platform on the crane and withstand the requested loads applied from the winches.

– We are proud and humbled being chosen as preferred supplier on this prestigious project, with floating offshore turbine installation of towers and rotor nacelle assemblies. We see it as an acknowledgement of our applications and performance, and a recognition of a good and strong cooperation on previous projects. On a higher level, we have expanded our portfolio of rental equipment in our HARCO DP series, to cover the need for the Arcadis Ost project, which enables us to supply an even wider range of rental equipment, says Henrik Harkes, CEO at HARCO.

HARCO will deliver manpower, to mobilize and operate the Tagline System – additionally the team will perform onsite training, enabling Heerema to operate the system going forward.

In addition to the Tagline System, Heerema ordered a black box for their training and simulation center. The black box is developed by HARCO and has been fitted with the software and models of the HARCO DP Tagline System. It has been integrated in April 2022 at the simulation center in Netherlands, and is expected to be ready for testing start May. Heerema will use the black box for training personnel in operating the HARCO DP Tagline System before dispatch.

After the successful integration of the black box to HSC, we hope to provide value to Heerema through detailed simulation and training with the HARCO DP Tagline System incorporated in their simulator. We are looking forward to project execution and hope the project will be another success.”

Arcadis Ost 1 is located in the Baltic Sea, and is developed by Parkwind. The wind farm will consist of 27 Vestas turbines, with a capacity of 9,5 MW each.

The wind farm should be installed during late 2022 and should be ready to produce power in 2023. Once fully commissioned, the wind farm will have a capacity of 257 MW.
