In six years, the company has grown to 80 employees and nine-figure annual revenue in DKK. It has now moved into a new 4,300 m² production facility – and the CEO believes the company’s growth is closely linked to its location.
Just a few years ago, the first prototypes were built in a garage. Today, HARCO has 80 employees, generates nine-figure annual revenue in DKK, and delivers lifting solutions to the offshore industry worldwide.
The company, founded in January 2020, has grown rapidly. And although none of the founders are from Esbjerg, CEO Sten Dyrmose says there was never any doubt about where the company should be based.
None of us are from Esbjerg, but we knew this was where we needed to be. We are a start-up scaling in the energy sector – and this is where it can happen.”

CEO, HARCO
HARCO has just taken another step in its growth. Before the summer holidays, the company took over a new 4,300 m² production facility in Esbjerg, and on Friday, employees will also move into a 1,600 m² office building.
– We have become a real company, says Sten Dyrmose.

HARCO opens its doors
HARCO is opening the doors to its new facilities at Måde Industrivej 30 in Esbjerg.
The company has followed the construction for almost a year and is inviting everyone to a housewarming on Friday, 18 September from 11:00 to 16:00.
The event is open to everyone, with hotdogs, cold drinks and live music.
Guests can also take part in a competition to win a smartwatch worth DKK 5,000.
Outgrew its facilities
HARCO gradually outgrew its rented facilities at Måde Industripark. However, the company wanted to invest its revenue in equipment and development rather than in its own buildings.
This is where NorSea Denmark came into the picture. As HARCO’s landlord, the company invested in constructing the new facilities, and the project was completed just over a year and a half after the first meeting between the two companies.
-Our ambition is to be a supplier to the entire energy sector – also when companies are growing and developing, says Henrik Munk Andersen, Property Director at NorSea.
According to him, the collaboration between HARCO, NorSea, KG Hansen and Ingeniør’ne was crucial to completing the new production facility within a short timeframe.
It was HARCO’s requirements and our construction project, but from the very beginning, it has been a joint effort. KG Hansen and Ingeniør’ne have done an outstanding job. That is what made it possible to deliver a completed production facility in record time.”

More than an address
For Sten Dyrmose, HARCO’s location in Esbjerg is about more than just an address. He points to the many energy-sector companies in the area and the access to suppliers, partners and employees with the necessary skills.
-Esbjerg has the economy and the value chain: suppliers and partners, the skills and the understanding. Our business happens when people with different expertise come together and put their skills to work to solve challenges together. And we have that here, he says.
The collaboration on the new facilities began with a conversation and a handshake. According to the HARCO CEO, that way of doing business fits well with Esbjerg.
In Esbjerg, integrity matters. Trust and long-term relationships play an important role. We shake hands on an agreement, and that means finding a way forward together. That approach is incredibly strong.”

He therefore believes that HARCO’s development is closely linked to the city the company chose as its base.
-HARCO could not have become what it is today anywhere else, says Sten Dyrmose.
